First day at the Farmer's Market

You can kind of see my egg sign

Thanks to the Phoenix Permaculture Guild I got to help man the booth and sell a couple dozen of my (chickens') eggs at the downtown Phoenix Farmer's Market today. You would be surprised how many people show up despite the 105-110 degree weather. It's not too bad if you're in the shade. A whole lot of fun, and very rewarding. I think that officially makes the chicken feed and supplies tax deductable now. :)

that looks like a good time. It sounds HOT there. I enjoy reading about Farmer's Markets around the world. I grow apples and cherries in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. We are just now picking cherries and I take a few to the farmer's market, but then so do dozens of others. Do you have cherries at your market? Stay in the shade!

Hi Greg-
I don't think I've ever seen any cherries at ours, if there are, they would most likely have had to be grown about 2 hours away where they get enough chill hours to grow them. As far as I know, there aren't any cherries that will fruit in the Phoenix area because we only get about 350 chill hours per year... and yes it's HOT. 112 today.
